Batman: Battle Damaged

After seeing Dustin's Batman on Ebay, I just knew I wanted it on my site. This is what customizing is all about! Here is Dustin's lowdown on this awesome figure!

This is a complete indulgence piece. After years of seeing so many pinup-worthy panels of Bats rising out of rubble, or getting up after getting knocked around, I decided it was a necessary addition to my portfolio. and, after seeing Mattel's two-pack version, I knew I had to show them up. :) Battle Damage Batman was made out of a ML Captain America figure, with a modified Wolverine head. The glove spines, bare fingers and plastic cape piece are all from my parts drawer, but the source for most was probably a Legends of Batman figure, who's real identity has been lost to time. Contrary to popular belief, the best way to do battle damage on a figure is to do it BEFORE you finish the project, and add it like you would any other detail. The holes and scrapes were planned and added long before he was sanded and painted. Everything else is standard procedure, I used a medium grey wash to bring out the details, and opted for the silver "armor" plating on the cowl and emblem after rereading Batman Grendel II and the latest Jim Lee Batman.
