After all the custom figures I've done, I found myself with an extra Homer head, and I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it! Jack in the Box Homer was a real fun and easy figure to make. Making the box was the start. I went to my local arts and craft store and pick up a small cardboard box, (about 2 inches) and some soft wire rods. (I was unable to find a spring that was in the right scale.) The next step was to take Homer's head and resculpt his mouth into his horrified expression. Then sculpt his jester's hat. For his collar, I was going to use real cloth, but I didn't feel like going to the fabric store, so I cut the shape I needed from a thin sheet of plastic that I got from my local hobby store. It would have been a much better figure if I was able to make Homer into a real jack in the box, but hey, maybe next time.
